On... Money is Never Enough?

Money is never enough - my friend said.

That is very true but not true at the same time. Our relationship with money is a very personal thing and it depends on our personality and philosophy. There are two things I thought about when he said that money is never enough.

The first thing that comes to mind is that generally people want what they cant get. I am not sure how true this statement is but I have heard it somewhere and it is very true for me. When we are young, we have more time than money. When we are old, we have more money than time. This is generally speaking of course (not talking about people who are homeless or living in poverty).

Because my friends and peers are still in the "young" stage (I would argue that we are already old at the age of 40+), we are at the age where we think we still have a lot mileage to go before we expire. In this case, we think we have a lot of time, thats why we crave money. As compared to someone in their sunset days (70+ perhaps?), time is limited and moving towards zero. Ask yourself, would you trade your position with Warren Buffett? Take all his money, but take his age as well.

The second thing that comes to mind is that - if money is never enough, then why chase it? What I mean is that - it is an impossible urge to satisfy, a mission that has no end target.

If money is never enough like my friend said. Make your first 100k. It will not be enough. Make your first million. It will not be enough. Make your first 10mil. It will not be enough. The points is that, there is no satisfactory number. Further more, money doesn't come falling into your lap. It takes effort. Spend much time chasing a never ending tasks?

I think what my friend say is right. Money is never enough. But what do you plan to do about it?
