On... $STRC part 2
I I expect that in a year from now no one would talk about $STRC or Saylor the way they talk about it today. So, I might as well chime in while the oven is still hot.
As I told a friend, Saylor will either die a villain or live long enough to be a hero. Scroll through Saylor’s X posts. If you read the comments, you will see peak Saylor hate. Why is that? I feel like its because people are hurt. We have been in a bear market for almost a year (starting from the 10th October crash). And I feel like the Saylor hate is just people hurting and looking for a villain.
And most of the hate comes when $STRC was created. Why? Because something changed when $STRC was created. Saylor went from “Never Sell Your $BTC” to “Sell your $BTC if you have to”. To me $STRC is a genius product. And that is probably contrarian because a lot of Bitcoiners hate it. They say that Saylor is selling $BTC to fund $STRC dividends. And of course, Bitcoiners are the first to point out that Saylor is a hypocrite for saying not to sell BTC but then he went to sold his.
Do I have a problem with him selling and that he lied? No, not at all. Because the ability to change one’s mind is a sign of intelligence. Stephen Hawking said something similar. And did Saylor really change his mind? He has before (In 2013 Saylor said - Bitcoin days are numbered. It seems like just a matter of time before it suffers the same fate as online gambling). But in the case of $STRC, I don’t think he changed his mind. He is still a net accumulator. So why is he selling?
If you want 8 billion people to adopt $BTC, give them a 12% dividend. And that’s $STRC! It’s a vampire attack on the fixed income market, worth about 145 trillion USD globally. $BTC market cap is about 2 trillion. And Saylor wants to tap that market.
Will $STRC succeed? Well, its worth a gamble (even though it means selling some $BTC).
